The historical evolution of hemostatic clamps in the list of surgical consumables and weapons

The eighteen kinds of weapons refer to a variety of skills, and their content varies in different periods. Its name was first seen in Yuan opera and is a symbol of Chinese martial arts and weapons.

Since the name comes from opera, we use the opera's statement to list knives, guns, swords, halberds, axes, hatchets, hooks, forks, halberds, sticks, lances, sticks, whips, maces, hammers, claws, crutches, and meteor hammers as eighteen kinds of weapons.

Modern medical devices can be traced back to the invention of the microscope in 1595, which is only more than 500 years ago. During this period, fruitful results have been produced, and a series of key instruments have been born, which has greatly promoted the development of medical devices.

The chapter of the list of medical consumables and weapons - hemostatic clamps

The hatchet is one of the eighteen kinds of weapons in ancient times. Although it has lethality, it is more used by some ceremonial guards, which is different from using weapons. In the West, the symbol of power is the scepter, and in China it is the hatchet. The most well-known axe is the Ziwu Yuanyang axe, which is a type of axe with a short pole. The Ziwu Yuanyang axe is a unique weapon of the Baguazhang school, created by Dong Haichuan in the Qing Dynasty, and is also called the "Sun, Moon, Heaven and Earth Sword". The axe is divided into Ziwu and Wu, one male and one female. When practicing, they open and close and interweave, neither close nor far away, resembling mandarin ducks, so it is named "Ziwu Yuanyang axe". This instrument is small and exquisite, with many changes, which is conducive to close combat, using short to gain strength, and is specially used to break long weapons and sharp blades. Practice in your hands, flexibly fly, and defeat the enemy with one blow.

Among medical consumables, the one that can be as flexible and free as axe and strangle the throat with one blow is the hemostatic clamp. Although the hemostatic clamp is small in size, it can play a huge role.

In recent years, the use of endoscopic hemostatic clips has become the most effective and clinically valuable method for non-surgical treatment of acute gastrointestinal bleeding in critically ill patients due to its low trauma, fast hemostasis, low incidence of rebleeding, few complications, and definite efficacy. Gastrointestinal bleeding is a common clinical symptom. Endoscopic hemostasis has increasingly become one of the preferred hemostasis methods.

The current hemostasis methods include: drug spray hemostasis, local drug injection hemostasis, laser coagulation, electrocoagulation, microwave hemostasis, hemostasis with hemostatic clips, etc.

For bleeding caused by exposed blood vessels on the ulcer surface, if the bleeding blood vessels are at the edge of the ulcer and there is less necrotic tissue around, the bleeding site can be firmly clamped with a clip, and the hemostasis effect is rapid and satisfactory. For bleeding from the stump during and after polypectomy, because it is surrounded by normal tissue, the hemostatic clip can firmly clamp the bleeding stump and normal tissue together, greatly reducing the risk of endoscopic treatment of gastrointestinal polyps.
